SycamoreSycamore can vary quite a bit in
color. Most pieces are a light yellowish color and contain light reddish-pink
areas. Streaks of reddish-brown also occur frequently. Often called American
lacewood when quartersawn, due to the beautiful grain patterns which occur
(photo #3 above). These special pieces are sold here on our web site
specifically under the name of American lacewood. Note: All spindles
will display this quartersawn figure when turned, and the figure will also be
present in the sides of pieces turned from regular sycamore, instead of in the
top and bottom faces which American lacewood will display.

- Bowl blanks are pre-cut round. Measurements are in inches -
diameter x thickness
- Platter blanks are pre-cut round. Measurements are in inches -
diameter x thickness
- Spindle measurements are in inches - width x height x length
- Pieces are green (not dried)
- Fully sealed in paraffin wax to guard against defects
- Pieces contain no pith, checks or cracks
- May occasionally contain light spalting or ambrosia streaking

arrive within 2-9 business days. Shipments to Alaska and Hawaii normally require
