Quality Assurance
All of our turning blanks are guaranteed to be the highest quality available. Here is what you can expect from us, versus what you can expect from our competition:
- No pith
The pith (center) of a tree is always cut out while we are processing our blanks. We also cut out all cracks associated with the pith. Leaving the center portion of the tree in a blank can cause extremely uneven drying, and often results in heavy cracking. Be wary of dealers who regularly offer blanks over 6" thick, as many will simply cut a block straight from the center of the tree, and leave you to find out about the problem after you've made your purchase and it is too late.
- Zero defects
We hand select each bowl blank from a larger slab, cutting away all bark edges (sometimes leaving up to a 1/4" bark edge) and removing any bark inclusions, pithy areas, and loose knots. Many dealers may offer their blanks at prices that are nearly as good as ours, but often customers will receive pieces with defects, and which have heavy bark edges. Do you want to end up with less wood than you paid for or want bark chips flying around your shop? We don't think so!
- High quality processing standards
All of our blanks are planed down to exact thicknesses, providing a smooth, even surface to view the grain of the wood, so you can best select the way in which you should approach your project. This also allows us to see any hairline cracks and checks which would not normally be visible through the rough cut surface created when being saw milled. Ever received a blank, just to find it cracked when you started turning it? Have no fear when you purchase from us!
- Pre-cut round bowl blanks and platters
All of our platters and bowl blanks are pre-cut round by hand! This assures that you receive the most accurate circle possible, and also saves you time at the lathe! As an additional benefit, you won't have to pay the shipping costs from the weight of the wood that is going to go to waste when you start turning!
- High quality wax sealant
Many competitors offer their blanks sealed with high quality end sealer, which is normally used in the sawmill industry to preserve the ends of logs while they are sitting on the yard. While this will work for some species of wood, all pieces will eventually begin to warp, distort and crack while sitting on the shelf waiting to be used. We, on the other hand, fully seal all of our blanks in a hot-dip paraffin wax coating. You will never have to worry about your wood going to waste while you are waiting to use it...ever. Guaranteed!
No-Hassle Replacement Policy
If for any reason you are ever dissatisfied with a piece of wood that you receive from our company, we offer a no-hassle replacement policy. Simply contact us at
service@turningblanks.net, and we will get everything taken care of for you immediately. We always strive to be easy to deal with, and will provide you with the best customer service out there, PERIOD!
Low Price Guarantee
We offer a low price guarantee on all of the bulk woods that we carry. (Note: Custom cut pieces, such as our one-of-a-kind blanks and monster blanks are not included in this offer) If you find a comparable item in stock with another dealer we will meet that price for you (auction sites not included). Even if you've made a purchase within the last month, and find a better price elsewhere...we will still meet that price for you and refund the difference (again, auction sites not included)! We are fully confident that our prices and quality will not be beat! Try us out and you will see why people come back to us time and time again.
Thanks so much for the pleasure of doing business with you all!
Regards,
