Curly Tzalam—often called Caribbean Walnut—is an attractive hardwood prized for its warm color and striking curly figure. The wood ranges from light to medium brown with subtle golden or gray undertones, while the curly figure adds beautiful movement and visual depth across the surface. Curly Tzalam turns smoothly with sharp tools, producing clean cuts and crisp detail. Its fine to medium texture sands easily and finishes well, with clear finishes especially enhancing the curl and natural color. When properly dried, tzalam offers good stability, making it suitable for both functional and decorative turning projects. Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, vessels, furniture accents, and decorative turnings.
