Bubinga (Guibourtia spp.) is a dense African hardwood prized for its rich color, strength, and dramatic figure. The wood ranges from light pinkish-red to deep reddish-brown, often featuring darker purple or brown veining, curl, or pommele figure that adds striking visual depth.
Bubinga turns very well with sharp tools, producing smooth cuts and crisp detail. Its fine to medium texture and high density allow it to polish to a high luster, making it ideal for both functional and decorative turning projects. When properly dried, bubinga offers excellent stability and durability.
Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, pens, musical instruments, furniture, and decorative accents.
