Product Description

Suitable for inexperienced turners. Wood is typically a deep purple color, eventually aging to a more purplish brown color with time. This species is hard, dense, and straight grained. Cutting requires sharp tools. Sands to a high lustre, finishes easily, and is stable when dried.

Please note: Due to the nature of this wood it may have light surface checks.

   Kiln dried to below 10% moisture content
   End grain sealed in wax to maintain moisture content

Purple Heart 6x3

Never had a problem using Purple Heart until this order. I turned the piece into a bowl and before it was finished it cracked from one side to the other. Don’t know why.

The purpleheart bowl turned out beautifully sanded to 600 grit and finished with Odie's Oil and Odie's Wood Butter as the top coat.
