African blackwood is very dense and dark in color. It is perfect for accents, finials and other small projects. Suitable for experienced turners. Wood is typically very dark brown to black in color. Sapwood is tan in color. This species is very hard, dense, and straight grained. Cutting requires sharp tools. Sands to a high lustre, finishes easily, and is stable when dried.
