Kiln Dried Chechen
Chechen (Metopium brownei)—often called Caribbean Rosewood—is a dense exotic hardwood prized for its rich color, dramatic grain, and excellent durability. The wood ranges from golden brown to deep chocolate brown, frequently highlighted with darker streaks and spider-web figure that add striking visual depth.
Chechen turns very well with sharp tools, allowing for smooth cuts and crisp detail. Its fine, dense grain sands cleanly and finishes to a high natural luster. When properly dried, chechen offers excellent stability, making it suitable for both functional and decorative turning projects.
Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, pens, tool handles, knife scales, and fine furniture accents.
