Kiln Dried Birdseye Hard Maple
Birdseye Maple is a highly figured variety of maple prized for its distinctive “eye” pattern scattered across a light, creamy background. The wood ranges from pale cream to light golden tones, with the unique birdseye figure creating exceptional visual depth and character.
Despite its dramatic appearance, Birdseye Maple turns well with sharp tools, allowing for smooth cuts and crisp detail. The dense, fine grain sands cleanly and accepts finishes beautifully, with clear finishes especially enhancing the three-dimensional figure. When properly dried, it offers good stability, though the figured grain benefits from light, controlled cuts.
Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, pens, decorative turnings, furniture accents, and showcase pieces.
