Branquilho
Branquilho (Sebastiania commersoniana) is a dense South American hardwood valued for its hardness, fine grain, and excellent durability. The wood typically ranges from pale yellow to light brown with darker streaks.
Branquilho turns cleanly with sharp tools, holding crisp detail and producing smooth surfaces. Its fine, tight grain sands well and finishes to a refined, understated appearance. Because of its density, light cuts are recommended, but when properly dried it offers very good stability and strength.
Common uses include turning blanks, tool handles, mallets, spindles, furniture components, and other functional turning projects.
