Kiln Dried Sassafras
Sassafras (Sassafras albidum) is a lightweight North American hardwood appreciated for its warm color, pleasant aroma, and easy workability. The wood ranges from pale yellow to light brown, often with subtle golden or olive tones that give it a soft, rustic look.
Sassafras turns easily with sharp tools, making it a good choice for beginners and for light- to medium-duty turning projects. Its grain is generally straight with a coarse to medium texture, allowing for smooth shaping and quick sanding. When properly dried, sassafras offers good stability and finishes well.
Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, decorative turnings, utility items, and carved projects.
