Recommended for experienced turners. Wood is typically a dark brown or reddish brown color. This species is hard, dense, and straight grained. Cutting requires sharp tools, as this wood has a pronounced dulling effect on tools. Sands to a high lustre, finishes easily, and is stable when dried.

Care should be taken to avoid touching pieces while turning, as splinters are common prior to sanding.
