Etimoe (Copaifera salikounda) is an attractive African hardwood valued for its rich color, durability, and refined appearance. The wood ranges from light pinkish-brown to medium reddish-brown, often deepening with age and accented by subtle darker streaks.
Etimoe turns and machines well with sharp tools, producing smooth cuts and clean detail. Its grain is typically straight to slightly interlocked with a fine to medium texture, offering good strength while remaining manageable on the lathe. When properly dried, etimoe provides good stability and finishes nicely, developing a warm, natural luster.
Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, furniture components, cabinetry, and decorative projects.
