Hard Maple is a strong, durable hardwood valued for its light color, fine grain, and excellent workability. The wood ranges from creamy white to light tan, sometimes with subtle golden tones, giving it a clean, bright appearance. Hard Maple turns cleanly with sharp tools, producing crisp detail and smooth cuts. Its dense, tight grain sands well and accepts finishes evenly, making it suitable for both functional and decorative turning projects. When properly dried, hard maple offers excellent strength and stability. Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, furniture parts, cutting boards, and utility items.

Peppermill Blanks

Ordered two 3x3x12 KD rough sawn hard maple blanks. One was square and one was extremely crooked. I was barely able to get a cylinder turned on the lathe to get a peppermill from the blank. I will order more blanks but they will not be rough sawn.
