Product Description

Ambrosia Maple is a visually striking hardwood distinguished by the dramatic streaks and patterns created by ambrosia beetle activity. The base wood ranges from creamy white to light tan, contrasted by blue-gray, black, and brown markings that make every piece unique. Despite its bold appearance, Ambrosia Maple retains the strength and fine grain typical of maple. It machines and turns smoothly with sharp tools, holds detail well, and accepts finishes beautifully. Clear finishes especially enhance the natural contrast and character of the wood. Widely used for turning blanks, furniture accents, slabs, and decorative projects, Ambrosia Maple is prized for its combination of workability and one-of-a-kind appearance.

All blanks contain light to medium ambrosia streaks. Very heavy ambrosia maple is selected out and sold seperatly as Heavy Figure Ambrosia Maple.

Beautiful pieces of wood.

Good piece / dull piece

Price and shipping times were excellent. I ordered two piece of 3x3x6 KD ambrosia maple to make matching mini flower vases for each end of our kitchen table. One piece looked really good. Plenty of streaks from the ambrosia beetle. The second piece just looked like dirty dishwasher stained ambrosia. No definig streaks. I understand the nature of wood. And that it is still ambrosia maple... but I would've classified it under a different listing as B grade. Not quite what I was looking for.

Overall, I am still quite happy with my purchase. I will continue to purchase from Got Wood. I've already checked them out a few times since receiving my first order. Planning out the next project through them. Wood recommend buying from them. If you can spare the change, buy an extra piece incase one is a bit more drab than your looking for. I'm sure it'll be of use for another project anyway.
