Product Description

Cherry (Prunus serotina)—often called Black Cherry—is a highly regarded hardwood known for its warm color, smooth grain, and excellent workability. Freshly cut, the wood ranges from light pinkish-brown to reddish tones, deepening over time to a rich reddish-brown with age and exposure to light. Cherry turns beautifully with sharp tools, producing clean cuts and crisp detail. Its fine, straight grain sands easily and finishes exceptionally well, developing a smooth, satiny luster. When properly dried, cherry is stable and predictable, making it a favorite for both functional and decorative turning projects. Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, furniture parts, cabinets, and decorative items.

Cherry or black cherry?

The 11x4 block I bought was in perfect condition. Waxed and dry. I assumed it was so dark because of the wax. After turning it, I am convinced that it is actually black cherry. It is much much darker than any cherry I've turned before and very similar to the black cherry that I've turned before. I would not have bought it if it was sold as black cherry.

Always great wood

The title saids it all. You can be sure it’s quality wood bc it comes from Got Wood.

Nice close grain wood. Would have been 6 stars if the wood had a bit more graining.
