Select Maple is Soft Maple that usually contains light ambrosia streaks or mineral stain. They may also contain light figure such as curl or spalting. These are a byproduct of cutting other types of maple. Soft Maple is a versatile hardwood known for its light color, smooth grain, and excellent workability. The wood typically ranges from creamy white to light tan, sometimes with subtle gray or reddish tones that add gentle character. Soft Maple turns smoothly with sharp tools, making it a favorite for both beginner and experienced turners. Its fine, even grain allows for clean cuts, easy sanding, and good detail. When properly dried, Soft Maple offers good stability and accepts stains, paints, and clear finishes very well. Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, furniture parts, utility items, and decorative projects.

Will not contain rot, wane, cracks or pith
Solid knots up to 1/4" are allowed
Contains less than 30% heartwood
Contains one or more of the following: ambrosia streaks, mineral stain, spalting and/or miscellaneous figure
Select maple is a byproduct of cutting colored/figured types of maple
May be cut a little uneven due to warping while drying
