African Teak aka Iroko (Milicia excelsa / Milicia regia)—is a durable African hardwood valued for its teak-like appearance, strength, and natural resistance to wear. The wood ranges from golden yellow to medium brown, often darkening over time into deeper, warmer tones.
African Teak turns well with sharp tools, producing clean cuts and good detail. Its grain is typically straight to interlocked with a medium to coarse texture. It sands and finishes nicely, developing a warm, natural luster. When properly dried, it offers good dimensional stability and long-term durability.
Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, tool handles, furniture components, outdoor items, and decorative turnings.
