Product Description

Hickory (Carya spp.) is a tough, dense hardwood renowned for its strength, shock resistance, and bold grain. The wood typically ranges from light cream to pale brown with darker brown streaks, often showing strong contrast between heartwood and sapwood. Hickory turns well with sharp tools, though its density and interlocked grain benefit from controlled cuts. It holds detail well and produces durable finished pieces suited for heavy-use applications. When properly dried, hickory offers good stability and finishes nicely, highlighting its rugged grain pattern. Common uses include turning blanks, tool handles, spindles, furniture parts, and utility items where strength and durability are essential.

   Kiln dried to below 10% moisture content
   End grain sealed in wax to maintain moisture content
