Product Description

Cherry (Prunus serotina)—often called Black Cherry—is a highly regarded hardwood known for its warm color, smooth grain, and excellent workability. Freshly cut, the wood ranges from light pinkish-brown to reddish tones, deepening over time to a rich reddish-brown with age and exposure to light. Cherry turns beautifully with sharp tools, producing clean cuts and crisp detail. Its fine, straight grain sands easily and finishes exceptionally well, developing a smooth, satiny luster. When properly dried, cherry is stable and predictable, making it a favorite for both functional and decorative turning projects. Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, furniture parts, cabinets, and decorative items.

Great wood spindle materials

The cherry blanks are nice looking and straight, the grain seems nice and no visual splits, however when I cut into one there was a severe void, no way to know when picking the pieces, just the luck of the draw. I was able to make a repair that fits the use of the turning I was making and ended up looking nice.
