Bocote (Cordia spp.) is a striking exotic hardwood prized for its dramatic grain and rich color contrast. The wood ranges from golden yellow to light brown, boldly marked with dark brown or nearly black swirling lines and figuring that make each piece visually unique.
Bocote turns well with sharp tools, producing smooth cuts and crisp detail. Its fine to medium texture and natural oils allow it to sand and polish to a high luster, often with minimal finishing. When properly dried, bocote offers good stability, though its density benefits from controlled cuts on the lathe.
Common uses include turning blanks, pens, tool handles, knife scales, bowls, and decorative turnings.

Two 5"x5"x2" KD Bocote Square Wood Bowl Turning Blank
Very disappointing! Both of the 5"x5"x2" KD Bocote Square Wood Bowl Turning Blanks had a number of splits, cracks, on one of the 5"x5" faces. These splits/cracks makes the two KD Bocote Square useless for my intended project. I can see that both of the KD Bocote Squares would be fine if one was turning them into bowls. They could lath out the face with the splits/cracks. However my project requires both faces to be split/crack free. For me they were a waste of my money and my time. The two Osage Orange rounds (5"x2") were crack free and are good for my use. So, bottom line, only half of my order was a waste.
