Product Description

Black Limba (Terminalia superba)—often called Korina—is an exotic hardwood prized for its striking contrast and bold natural character. The wood ranges from pale yellow to light tan, dramatically accented by dark brown to nearly black streaks and figuring that make every piece unique. Black Limba turns and machines well with sharp tools, producing smooth cuts and clean detail. Its grain can vary from straight to moderately interlocked, offering visual interest while remaining workable on the lathe. When properly dried, it provides good stability and finishes beautifully, especially with clear finishes that highlight the contrast between light and dark areas. Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, decorative turnings, furniture accents, and instrument components.
Special Note:
Occasional pinhead-sized insect holes are common in this wood, and are not considered a defect.

   Kiln dried to below 10% moisture content
   End grain sealed in wax to maintain moisture content
   Protective wax seal guaranteed for 30 days
   Guaranteed defect-free (unless otherwise noted)

  • Surfaces planed to display wood grain
  • Size varies by up to 1/4"
  • Will not contain rot, wane, cracks or pith
  • Solid knots up to 1/4" are allowed
  • All blanks are selected for high quality color patterns. Colors run through a minimum of 60% of each blank.

Received a beautiful 8”x8”x2” KD Black Limba square blank that is going to make a base for a bread stand. Always great wood from “Got Wood?” LLC!

Wood just OK

I got the Limba wood quickly and the quality was great. The wood had very little detail and only one darker band. O assumed it would have much more character…So just OK not great..looked nothing like the picture on the web site
