Spanish Cedar (Cedrela odorata) is a lightweight, aromatic hardwood valued for its warm color, natural resistance to moisture and insects, and excellent workability. The wood ranges from light pinkish-brown to reddish-brown, often darkening with age and exposure.
Spanish Cedar turns easily with sharp tools, producing smooth cuts and clean detail. Its straight grain and medium texture sand quickly and finish well. When properly dried, it offers good stability, making it well suited for both functional and decorative turning projects.
Common uses include turning blanks, boxes, spindles, humidors, instrument parts, and light-duty utility items.
