The wood ranges from light pinkish-brown to deep reddish-brown, often darkening beautifully with age and developing a warm, refined appearance. Genuine Mahogany turns and machines exceptionally well with sharp tools, producing smooth cuts and crisp detail. Its grain is typically straight to slightly interlocked with a fine, even texture, making it highly predictable on the lathe. When properly dried, it offers excellent dimensional stability and finishes to a rich, natural luster. Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, furniture, cabinetry, musical instruments, and decorative projects.
