Macacauba is exceptionally dense—about 55 to 73 pounds per cubic foot when air-dried—but is not especially difficult to work. It turns smoothly and can develop a high natural polish.
Why it matters: Sharp tools and fine finishing cuts can produce an exceptionally smooth surface, making Macacauba an excellent choice for boxes, handles, pens and decorative spindle work.
