Red Grandis (Eucalyptus grandis) is a fast-growing hardwood valued for its warm color, straight grain, and excellent workability. The wood ranges from light pinkish-red to medium reddish-brown, often resembling mahogany in appearance with a clean, uniform look. Red Grandis turns smoothly with sharp tools, producing clean cuts and good detail. Its grain is generally straight with a fine to medium texture, making it predictable and easy to work on the lathe. When properly dried, Red Grandis offers good stability and finishes well, taking both clear finishes and stains evenly. Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, furniture components, cabinetry, and decorative projects.
