The wood ranges from creamy yellow to light brown, often featuring bold dark brown or black veining and swirling figure that make each piece unique. Mediterranean Olivewood turns well with sharp tools, producing smooth cuts and crisp detail. Its fine to medium texture sands cleanly and finishes beautifully, developing a rich, natural luster that highlights the striking grain. When properly dried, olivewood offers good stability, though its figure benefits from controlled cuts on the lathe. Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, utensils, decorative turnings, and specialty projects.
