Flame Birch—often called Curly Birch—is a beautifully figured hardwood prized for its shimmering flame-like pattern and light, refined color. The wood ranges from creamy white to pale golden tones, with the flame (curly) figure creating striking movement and depth across the surface. Flame Birch turns smoothly with sharp tools, producing clean cuts and crisp detail. Its fine, even grain sands easily and finishes beautifully, with clear finishes especially enhancing the flame figure and natural brightness. When properly dried, it offers good stability for both functional and decorative turning projects. Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, vessels, furniture accents, and decorative pieces.
