Product Description

Red Elm is a durable North American hardwood valued for its strength and distinctive grain. The wood ranges from light reddish-brown to medium brown, often with darker streaks that add natural character. Red Elm is known for its pronounced interlocking grain, which provides excellent resistance to splitting and shock. It turns smoothly with sharp tools, though the lively grain benefits from controlled cuts. When properly dried, Red Elm offers good stability and finishes well, highlighting its bold, textured grain pattern. Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, tool handles, furniture parts, and other functional turnings.
