Product Description

Figured Purpleheart (Peltogyne spp.) is a striking exotic hardwood prized for its vivid purple color and rare natural figure. The wood ranges from deep violet to rich purple, often displaying curly, wavy, or mottled figuring that adds dramatic depth and movement beyond typical straight-grained purpleheart. Figured Purpleheart turns cleanly with sharp tools, producing crisp detail and smooth surfaces. Its dense, fine grain allows it to sand well and finish to a high polish. Over time, exposure to light deepens and enriches the purple tones. When properly dried, it offers excellent stability and durability for both functional and decorative turning projects. Common uses include turning blanks, bowls, spindles, pens, tool handles, decorative accents, and showcase pieces.

These pieces are contain light to medium-heavy figured grain patterns.

   Kiln dried to below 10% moisture content
   End grain sealed in wax to maintain moisture content
